Just a side-note, at the time I never really saw what I did is a mistake and took it as a learning curve and something to laugh about in my twenties.
Lesson One - Foundation If you're going to wear foundation, wear the right shade. The amount of embarrassing moments I had as a sixteen year old wearing the orange Rimmel Foundation are dreadful. Yet for some reason, I thought that was attractive and looked good.
Lesson Two - Hair Dye. Firstly, I wouldn't recommend dying your hair at all, I think hair gets attached to hair-dye and it is virtually impossible to go back to your natural colour which 99% of the time suits us more than the outrageous colours we experiment with.
My experiences with hair dye certainly define my life as a teenager. If I was in a great place in my life, the hair would be bleached blonde but if I was in a rubbish place, my hair was dark which contrasted dramatically against my porcelain skin. One of the most traumatic/embarrassing hair-dye incidents was me dying my hair ginger because I wanted to be Juno for a party (Unlogical). Unfortunately, I picked out the cheap £1 dyes and was stuck with orange hair for eight weeks - not ideal.

Lesson Three - Eye Liner. I blame my Mum for this one, for never telling me that placing my eyeliner below my lower water-line looked rubbish and the 'smudged' look was not in but foolish me believed it was. I'm happy to say now that I know where eyeliner needs to be applied to and will never willingly wear smudgy eyeliner thinking it looked good (ha ha)

Lesson Four - Shaving. This might be a bit TMI (too much information) but shaving was never really an issue for me until I turned fifteen when every girl in my year was obsessed with it. I never really made mistakes with shaving, just spent endless money on razors with aloe-vera because I believed they'd be better. I think now when it comes to shaving as long as its sharp and a good brand, you'll be fine.
Lesson Five - Green Eyeshadow. This is was my life as a teenager because I have blue eyes, I read somewhere that green eyeshadows bring out the blue in your eyes and me being a naive, complicated teenager believed that and purchased a loreal eye-shadow brick of green and brown eye shadows as well as a Barry M green eye shadow crayon. How wrong was I? When I applied the green pigments on my lids it not only looked like a bruised mess but gave me small eyes and a sinister appearance - not a good look at all!
These five beauty mistakes I made are ones that I will never make again but if we don't make mistakes we'll never learn.
My next post will explore 'fashion lessons'. I made many colour/pattern clashing errors!
